Pristine Awakening, built in 1938 as the home of Sir Ram Nath Chopra, knighted by the British for his contribution to pharmacology is reminiscent of an old English mansion and located on Chopra Lane, named after Sir Ram Nath himself. The house has played host to Kashmiri royalty, ministers and industrialists. Home to four generations of his family, it has now been restored as a set of boutique serviced apartments and ensuite rooms. It is a delightful blend of British architecture and Kashmiri interiors with ornamental ceilings and hardwood floors. Set in one of the few heritage residential neighbourhoods of Srinagar, the entire estate is within the army cantonment, thus providing an added measure of safety and privacy.
