Attractions in Kinnaur

Hindus visit Kinnaur to see the famous Kinner Kailash, believed to be the home of Lord Shiva and the Shivaling rocks, the stories of Pandavas and their link with Kinnaur is a great attraction.

1. Reckong Peo

Reckong Peo also known as Peo is considered to be the land of Gods and is a splendid beauty showcased by the Himalayas. It is a place which is believed to be the abode of Gods. Reckong Peo is the headquarter of the Kinnaur district and lies in the middle of the Himalayas. The town is serene and is famous for its apple orchards. It is inhabited by Kinnauri people and has a diverse culture even in today's modern era. You can easily view the two greatest wonders of the Himalayas, i.e. the Kailash mountain and the Shivaling rock from Reckong Peo.

2. Kalpa

Kalpa, the main village of Kinnaur, in the Sutlej River Valley is a place to remember and cherish. Known for its many beautiful temples and monasteries, this town is also famed for its apple orchards. 3. Sarahan

Sarahan is a beautiful hamlet situated near Kinnaur in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Known as the "Gateway to Kinnaur", it is located near the Sutlej River Valley and the Indo Tibetan road, at an altitude of 2165 m below sea level. Famous for the never-ending apple orchards, dense emerald pine and deodar forests, gushing streams, wildflower fields rustic settings, terraced farms and slate-roofed houses, the village is a sight to behold.

4. Nako

Located at the height of 3,600 metres above the sea level, Nako is a mesmerising and picturesque village that is full of eye capturing surroundings and is the most significant village situated in the Kinnaur district of the Himachal Pradesh. The village can be found on the eastern end of the Kinnaur District and is most popular amongst nature lovers and trekkers. While travelling to Malling Nullah, Nako village falls on the way and is, in fact, the last attraction on the way to the final destination.

5. Ribba

Ribba also known as 'rirang' gets its name by adding ri, which means chilgoza, which is one of the greatest specialty of Kinnaur and rang, which means mountain peak. The area is famous for its grape orchards and grape distilled alcohols and the innumerable trees with edible pines

6. Kothi

Kothi also known as Koshtampi has a religious reverence due to the temple of Hindu god Bhairon baba and another temple of one of the most powerful and eldest goddess who bestow magical boons to her devotees. Goddess Chandika is believed to slash the head of a demon who helped the takur of Chini in ruling Sairag and by this she brought a rush of bliss to the town.

7. Moorang

Beauty of Moorang is generally defined by the spectacular apricot orchard and million other spectacular things. One can simply relax on the old fort built by the Pandavas on the banks of the Satluj river as the cool breeze caress the soul or head to Lipa- Asrang sanctuary which is spread across 40 Km of area inhabiting Brown bear, Musk deer, Himalayan black beer and many more.
