Kumbhalgarh (“Kumbhal fort”) is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India. It is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha. Occupied until the late 19th century, the fort is now open to the public and is spectacularly lit for a few minutes each evening. Kumbalgarh is situated 82 km northwest of  Udaipur by road. It is the most important fort in Mewar after Chittorgarh Fort.

1. The Kumbhalgarh Fort

Built over a period of 15 years under the expert supervision of the famed architect Mandan, Kumbhalgarh fort in Rajasthan is perfectly perched between eleven peaks of the Aravalli ranges. Its strategic position atop a high ridge camouflaged by the surrounding peaks has made it one of the most important and probably the only impregnable fort of the state. 2. Kumbalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. Covering a total surface area of 578 sq km and stretching across the Aravalli ranges, it encircles parts of Udaipur, Rajsamand, and Pali. The wildlife sanctuary encompasses the historic Kumbalgarh fort and is also named after the fort. This hilly dense forest of Kumbhalgarh will definitely prove to be a pleasant surprise for those who consider Rajasthan a desert state. The green tract of the park forms a dividing line between the two different parts of Rajasthan; Mewar and Marwar. 3. Mammadev Temple

Mammadev Temple is loacted right below the Kumbhalgarh Fort and is known for its beautiful architecture and interiors. Built by Rana Kumbha in 1460, this temple boasts of intricate sculptures and is definitely one of the best places to visit in Kumbhalgarh. The temple has two cenotaphs or ‘chhatris’ in memories of famous rulers Rana Kumbh and Prithviraj Chauhan. 4. Badal Mahal

Badal Mahal is a part of the Kumbhalgarh Fort and attracts a large number of tourists for its astounding architecture and grandeur. This is a 2-storied palace, located at the top of the fort, known for its colourful murals and breath-taking views. Its breathtaking beauty makes it one of the most visited places in Kumbhalgarh. 5. Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple

A famous Shiva temple, Neelkanth Mahadeo is another beautiful and serene place to visit in Kumbhalgarh, which dates back to 1458. 6. Vedi Temple

Dedicated to Goddess Vedi, this beautiful Jain temple is located close to Hanuman Gate of the fort and built by Rana Kumbh. This temple was renovated by Maharana Fateh Singh in later years. Presently, this 3-storied temple is considered as the only surviving relic of all the sacrificial sites of India.

7. Muchhal Mahavir Temple

Situated inside Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, this Jain temple is another beautiful sight. This is a pretty temple and the statues of elephants, guarding the main entrance is worth seeing. But the unique attraction of this temple is the main deity. The huge idol of Mahavira, located inside the temple has a mustache and hence, the name of the temple is Muchhal Mahavir.
